patternLock supports both facets of the system, letting users record a pattern, and then authenticating them based on their pattern.
The dot grid is also customizable, developers being able to use any number of dots, not just the classic 3 by 3 Android layout.
The plugin is ideal for implementing an alternative user authentication system, CAPTCHA systems, or even be used to replace passwords altogether.
If you're looking for some usage scenarios, patternCaptcha is a CAPTCHA system developed by patternLock's own author, working on top of a Node.js server.
