GuitarSim
GuitarSim is a guitar-simulation program that allows you to play tunes on a virtual guitar.
Requirements
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (Note: Vista users and a lot of XP users will already have a copy installed, if you don't have it installed it can be downloaded here free of charge.)
- OpenGL Version 1.2 or later. (Should be included with your video card drivers if your video card supports OpenGL)
How to play
Hold and fret key, and press right shift to strum.
The fret keys are the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, - and = buttons.
The furthur to the right side of the keyboard the fret is, the higher it's pitch will be.
Muck around with the notes and make up a tune, or try to play your favourite song!
The buttons on the right side of the program will allow you to switch between the "Pentatonic Scale", "Flat Chords" and "Octaves" modes, which will produce different sounding notes.
Alternatively the f1 to f3 keys can be used to switch modes whilst playing.
Sticky Keys
If you get prompted to enable sticky keys, this is because you pressed shift five times in a row. (coincidentally the strum button) to disable it, do the following.
Windows XP:
- When the Sticky Keys dialogue box comes up click the settings button.
- In the new dialogue box, click the top-most settings button, next to Sticky Keys.
- Untick "Use Shortcut".
- Click OK.
Windows Vista:
- When the Sticky Keys dialogue box comes up click the link that reads "Go to the Ease of Access Center to disable the keyboard shortcut".
- Uncheck the box that says "Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times"
- Click Apply.
