Tasks |
Tasks are the items inside of a card and are the primary content of TaskCard. When you select a card by clicking on it (a white focus frame will appear around the card) you can start adding tasks.
Contents
Pressing the space key or clicking on the circle next to a task will mark the task as completed or uncompleted. Completed tasks will be shown with a check mark next to the name or a circle if uncompleted.
If you select the Hide Completed Tasks item in the Card menu, tasks which are marked as completed will be hidden instead of showing a check mark. This setting affects each card individually as a pose to all the cards in the sheet or the application.
There are lots of fast ways to edit a tasks text in TaskCard:
Other things to know about editing:
There are 3 editing modes which affect the way tasks are edited. To change editing mode select the item from the Edit > Mode menu.
Other features:
Task containers (or trees) are tasks which contain sub tasks and have a disclosure triangle next to them. You can arrange tasks in unlimited containers to keep organized. To make a task into a container do the following:
If you use the Add Task Under command in the Task menu it will add a new task inside the selected tasks effectively turning it into a container, which is probably the fastest way to make containers in TaskCard.
Tasks can be indented and de-indented like text in a text editor using the Tab or Option-Tab keys. When a task is indented it will be placed inside the tasks directly above it, optionally making the task into a container. When de-indenting a task (using option-tab) the task will be moved outside of the current container and moved above the task directly above it in the heirarchy.
Changing task styles & features.
Tasks can change text style, set a priority flag, set a status or notes using the contextual Task Info window. When any features like priority or status are set a badge will appear next to the tasks text.
To open the task info window you can:
There are also commands in the Task menu which let you set the style, priority and status of tasks for quicker keyboard access.
Using the clipboard with tasks.
Tasks can be copied and pasted like plain text in any other application. If you copy a task you can paste its contents into other applications or if you copy text from other application it can be pasted into a card to become a task. Drag and drop is also supported from and to TaskCard.
If you want to paste multiple lines as tasks (each line being represented by a new task) choose the Paste as Tasks item in the Edit menu
A simple but handy feature that lets you add horizontal rows to cards which help to separate sections from each other.
To add a separator simply choose the Add Separator item in the Card menu.
Sometimes cards may be filled with many completed tasks that you don't want to delete but also don't want to see or clutter your card.
To do this choose the Hide Completed Tasks item in the Card menu and all completed tasks will be hidden instead of drawn with a checked box next to their name. If you want to show hidden tasks again simply select the menu item to toggle the functionality.
Cards can choose to only show tasks with (due dates) within a particular date range by using the Show Tasks From items in the Card menu.
This option can be particularly useful for calendar cards that contain many old events that you haven't deleted in TaskCard or iCal but don't want to clutter the card.
