What does Silica do?
Silica is a tool for converting one or more Quartz Compositions into QuickTime movies.
Quartz Compositions are created using Quartz Composer, a node-based visual programming tool for processing and rendering graphical data. For more information about Quartz Composer, visit the Apple Developer Connection website.
Silica converts one or more compositions using an offline rendering process that executes as a separate task on your computer. The user controls the video compression settings, size, duration and the destination of the resulting movies.
Once you have submitted one or more compositions for processing, you may monitor the conversion's progress using the Export Activity function located on the toolbar of each Silica document window.
