Personal Ledger is amulti-currency financial management program . In the ledger you can create any number of currencies. If necessary currency did not found in the ledger , then in order to create a new currency you must set the name and three-letter code as for example RUB or USD. This code is needed to update the exchange rates from the Internet, and also allows a more compact display of a currency in some places.
Currency exchange rates can be updated from the Internet or set manually. Personal Ledger stores (and use) the history of exchange rates for all currencies.
When creating or editing a transaction, you can specify any currency (by default it will account currency which operates the transaction). If the currency is different from the account currency, than at calculation of the current account balance, as well as in the calculation of other total amounts (in the reports and others) it will be automatically converted into account currency with most appropriate exchange rate on the date of transaction.
On the "currency" tab on the left side in a tabular form all currencies that is registered in the Persoanl Ledger are shown. Here are displayed a currency names and their three-character code. At any time you can edit the data. In order to delete currency, click on the button below the list of currencies. Thus, if the currency used in transactions, you get a worning message and will not be able to remove it. To add a new currency in the system, click the button
below the list of currencies. Then you must enter the name and three-character code.
On the right side the table of chosen currency exchange rates history is displayed to other currencies, registered in the ledger. You can add exchange rate by clicking on the button under the list of exchange rates in the right pane. You can update the current exchange rates for all currencies from the Internet by clicking
. It is also possible to edit any existing exchange rate, which need to press the button
and in the resulting dialog box you have to choose which currency to be exchanged and at wich rate, as well as to which currency to convert and its amount. You can also specify the date on which this exchange rate is relevant. Wrong and unnecessary exchange rates can be removed by clicking on the button
.
You can sort the history of exchange rates according to your needs, by clicking on the appropriate column, and also set up filters, indicating which rates to show. Filters are located just above the table of history courses. To add a filter click the "+" button on the right from any filter and to remove the filter, respectively press "-" button. On the left side of any filter is set the attribute to use for filtering, then in the middle is condition and value of the filter on right. Only courses that meet all the conditions of all filters are shown.
In the left side, above the list of currencies, the interactive graph of dynamics of currency exchange rates is shown according to the filters. To learn how to manage the graph, see the Managing interactive 3D graphs .
