Installation

How to install this campaign you ask?
Well, it's very easy if you simply follow this procedure (suppose you have UB installed in ...\UB directory):

1. Extract our campaign zip file to a temporary directory in your hard disk;

2. In your UB game directory, you should see a directory called Data
Inside of it, create a sub-directory named binarydata (in lowercase only! - check the picture below for more detail);

3. Now, copy the Itmdsc25.edt file from the campaign temporary directory to that new directory you just created, binarydata
This will allow the campaign to use some items modified by us - some of which will give you clues and info to the campaign objectives.

4. To install the campaign maps, first create a new directory inside ...\UB\Data\Campaigns
Let's see...call it Bearpit1 for instance. You should now have the following path ...\UB\Data\Campaigns\Bearpit1

5. Copy all the maps (.dat files) from the campaign temporary directory to this new directory you just created. You're almost done!

6. Finally, to activate the campaign you need to launch Set JA2UB Campaign utility that comes with UB.
To run it, look for the shortcut in the Start menu (search UB folder first and the shortcut to the utility is inside).
Another way is to simply execute the file ...\UB\Set JA2UB Campaign.exe.

7. In this utility, on the left, you should see at least 2 campaigns now available: "Unfinished Business" and "Bearpit1" (or whatever you called to our campaign directory). Select Bearpit1 and click on the Set button. Voilá! The procedure is complete now.

NOTE 1: After you have installed the campaign, you should also place this Readme files into a safe location. You will need it for references while playing the campaign.

NOTE 2: If you wish to complete UB as normal by entering the Tunnels & Missile Complex through the Power Plant, then remove the map labeled J13 from the UB Campaign One folder before starting your game as this map overwrites the Power Plant.

Unlocking Mid/Endgame Info

In this campaign we use a method, that we think is simple and effective, to give the player more detailed information on certain aspects of the campaign as the player progresses through the game.

The method resumes itself in password protected ZIP's, supplied with the campaign main ZIP file, containing each one of them, important info for key points of the campaign. Though it's recommend to the players to read these infos as soon as you have the passwords for each of them, they are not indispensable for the player to be able to finish the campaign... in this case, things just may become...harder for you... =)

The passwords can be found in some specific item descriptions, so pay attention to all the items you find throughout this campaign! An item that may not seem important to you, may contain a password to a info file.

Here's an example of how to "unlock" any of the info's, admiting that you are using WinZip (the procedure when using any other Zip programs is very similar):

1. Click on the ZIP icon at the left side of the Info you wish to "unlock".

2. A dialog box will appear with 2 options: "Open this file from its current location" or "Save this file to disk". Select the first option, "Open the file..." and click OK.

3. A WinZip window will now open, showing the contents of the Zip file. Click on the Extract button or select it from the menus.

4. The Extract dialog box will now appear. Browse to the "html" directory that is located inside this Readme directory (check the picture below), so that you select it to destination of the files to extract. Click the Extract button on the right.

5. A small box will now pop-up asking you to enter the password for that Zip file. Enter the password you found "somewhere" in our campaign, paying attention to UPPERCASE and lowcase (eg. password "bearpit" is different of password "BEARPIT").

6. When extracting the files, a dialog box will ask you if you want to overwrite a certain file. Select YES.

7. Voilá! The new info is now available through the link in the Midgame (or Endgame) section. You may also want to Refresh the Readme, so that the Status icon of that given Info changes from Locked to Unlocked.
