Test the Adapter

Intel's diagnostic software lets you test the adapter to see if there are problems with the adapter hardware, the cabling, or the network connection. 

Tests for Microsoft* Windows* Operating Systems

Intel® PROSet allows you to run several diagnostic tests, including:

To access these tests, select the adapter in Windows* Device Manager, click the link tab, and click Diagnostics. A Diagnostics window displays tabs for each type of test. Click the tab and run the test.

The availability of these tests is hardware and operating system dependent.

Novell* NetWare*, Linux*, SCO* UnixWare*, DOS Diagnostics

  1. If you are not already running DOS, shut down the OS and start DOS. 

  2. Insert the Product CD and/or change to the directory that contains DIAGS.exe. On the product CD the directory is APPS\TOOLS.

  3. Type: DIAGS and press Enter.

  4. If you have more than one adapter in your computer, an Adapter Selection menu appears on the screen. From that menu, select the network adapter you want to test.

  5. From the Main menu, select Test adapter and then select the type of test you want to run.

  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each adapter installed in the computer.
