How to convert XLS into HTML
Batch conversion - Import Excel Spreadsheet
HTML Cleaner for Excel has an embedded EXcel to HTML Converter, which can convert lots of Excel Spreadsheets into webpages easily.
In the "File" menu, select "Import Excel Spreadsheet", then the converter will appear. Set the folder contains your Excel files and the output folder for webpages, then click "Convert" button, all Excel files will be converted into HTML webpages automatically.
Excel file with multi sheets will be converted into mutli webpages. Only non-blank sheets will be converted.
(Usually MS Excel converts multi sheets file into a HTML file with a folder of many supporting files with frame, javscripts and XML files. This tool doesn't do this for it's difficult to manage and clean up.)
This conversion function need MS Excel installed on your PC, it invokes Excel to do the conversion in background, so the result is the same as MS Excel does - keeping the exact appearance mostly but with too many nasty garbages.
After conversion completed, all generated webpages will be listed in the cleaner, then you can clean them up as general clean work.
The conversion result differs with different MS Excel version. With Excel 2000, the result is unfiltered HTML, and with newer version Excels, the result is filtered HTML without MS Office specific tags.

- Convert all worksheets - This checkbox will make multi-sheet XLS file to be converted into several seperated HTML files. Or only the first sheet will be converted. While MS style compound HTML file with frames and scripts will never be generated in this converter.
- Single/Multi sheet - This entry shows if the file is single or multi sheet file.
- OK/Error/Passed - This shows the conversion status.
- "Error" means conversion failed.(May due to password protection, embedded Macro)
- "Passed" means the file was not processed, usually it's not a Excel HTML file.
Single Conversion - Use MS Excel "Save as"
Excel 2007, 2003, XPAfter XP, MS Excel has two HTML options in its save dialog and menu: "Save as webpage" and "Save as filtered webpage". Though HTML Cleaner for Excel has the ability to strip Office specific tags in unfiltered HTML file, we strongly recommend you select the later - "Save as Filtered HTML", which will reduce potential error and save processing time.
Excel 2000Word 2000 only has one choice " Save as Web Page", which is unfiltered HTML. Don't worry, HTML Cleaner for Excel will filter them as well. You can also download a simple tool from Microsoft - MS Office HTML Filter, which was designed for Office 2000.
Excel 97Word 97 is the first version of Excel having a function of exporting HTML. But we recommend you not to use this version to convert, for its generated HTML file will lost much appearance.
Be careful, if you use Excel "Save as" multi-sheet XLS file, the result HTML file will be a compound file with frames and scripts and support files. But you can "Save as" current sheet one by one to generate single pages, or use Excel HTML Converter.
